Frequently Asked Questions

Are we provided a uniform for work?

Sodexo Prestige will provide most of your uniform but there are a few bits you will need to take care of.

You will need to bring smart black shoes, black socks and smart black trousers. You will also need to bring your own shirt which must have buttons up to the collar. Please check before the event whether this needs to be black or white.

Can I choose where I work?

It is your choice to accept or decline work that is offered to you. We always try to match your skills, capabilities and experiences with the area you'll be working in; it's better for us, you and our clients. Unfortunately it isn’t always possible to place individuals in their chosen area of work, but we will do as much as we can to ensure you are given a shift with us if we receive your availability in time.

Do I have to attend any training before I start work?

It's never easy starting a new job, but we're focused on providing you with the tools to help you integrate quickly and hit the ground running. Our induction programme is designed to give you useful information about Sodexo, the business areas in which we operate the diversity and breadth of the organisation and all you need to know during your work with us. More importantly, you will meet your new team mates, find out more about the event you have applied to work at and be given training to equip you with the skills necessary to do your new job efficiently and effectively.

Do I need previous experience in the events industry?

The majority of roles do not require any experience in events, just a positive attitude and team spirit! Experience in hospitality is desirable and any roles that require previous experience or a minimum qualification are clearly indicated and these qualifications/experiences are highlighted.

Do I need to prepare anything for my interview?

No, you don’t need to prepare anything for the interview; but we want you to bring bags of enthusiasm. It is very important that you remember the key documents on the day of your scheduled interview, otherwise we won’t be able to let you proceed any further. These are:

  • A copy of your CV
  • UK Nationals – Photo card driving license and passport
  • EEA (European economic area) and SUI (Swiss) Nationals – Passport or national ID card
  • All other nationalities – passport and any work related visa documents
  • Proof of your National Insurance Number

All ID must be valid and if it is due to expire within the next few months it must be renewed in time for you to begin work.

Do I need to upload a CV?

You won't have to upload one so you can register your interest from anywhere, but we will ask for one to be e-mailed to us eventually. It does not have to be war and peace though, please see some examples in our Career Tools section.

How much will I be paid?

Wages depend on job role and your level of experience.

Is accommodation provided? And if not is travel expenses covered?

We are unable to provide accommodation. Travel expenses contributions are provided for some events. Therefore, if you are applying you should consider how you are going to get to work and whether you have friends/relations/colleagues you could stay with near the event site.

Is there parking available at event sites?

At some sites there are car parks available, some have only public transport links and some have both. Please ensure you know how you are going to travel to and from work before registering for a shift.

What is the dress code for the interview?

The dress code for the interview is smart casual, the interviews will be relaxed and short (approximately 10 minutes) and if successful you will be invited to attend a training session where we'll be able to run though Sodexo's values, principles and policies in a little more detail. What is the recruitment process?

Then we'll be in touch letting you know what will happen next. But we'll need a CV from you and you will have to attend an interview at either our Head Office in London or one of our other sites in the South East.

Where will I need to go to work?

Our events take place all accross the coutry. Our main venue locations are listed below:

- We race at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire all through the year. We also operate at Henley Royal Regatta in Berkshire.

- We operate at the Chelsea Flower Show and Twickenham Stadium in London.

- We operate at the Open Golf in Scotland and Wales.

- We also operate at the Burghley Horse Trials in Lincolnshire.

Will I be needed to work all events?

In a word, no.

However, we hope you will be able to work with us for as many of the events as possible because it will further your experiences and improve your skill set, thereby improving the scope in which you can work with us.

We also ask that you will be able to work a whole event with us and not just a fews days. We will make exceptions in certain circumstances.
