Everton Chefs Do It Again…

The prize winning team of chefs from Everton Football Club have continued their run of success, after scooping a major national award.

The chefs from Sodexo Prestige, which runs the catering and events at Goodison Park, were last night (May 24) named Chef Team of the Year at the prestigious Stadium Experience Football Hospitality awards.

The industry event, set up to recognise and reward the high standards of catering and conferencing at stadia around the country, was held at Reading’s Madejski Stadium, with hundreds of guests from clubs around the UK in attendance.

This is the latest in a long line of honours for the Everton chefs, under the control of Executive Head Chef Gareth Billington.

Earlier this year Darren Ryder and Antony Smith took the gold medal in their category in the Salon Culinaire contest for professionals working in the catering industry, run as part of The Hospitality Show held at Birmingham’s NEC.

Darren and Antony achieved gold standard and were named “Best In Class” in the Major International Contract Catering/Football Stadia award category having previously also received a silver medal at Hotelyimpia, the catering world’s equivalent of the Olympics.

Last year the Everton team took the Directors Choice in the Premier League award  – voted for by the board of directors of Premiership clubs during away games - at The Stadium Experience.

And Executive Head Chef Gareth Billington was also shortlisted recently in the Cost Sector Catering awards national chef of the year competition.

“We are delighted to see our team at Everton once again recognised for their high standards,” said Ian Simpson, General Manager for Sodexo Prestige at the club.

“It’s particularly gratifying when we’re competing against our peers to once again have taken the first place honours.”
