Sodexo takes silver at the Learning Awards 2013

The learning and development team at Sodexo has won silver in the Internal Learning Project category for its Be More than a Spectator campaign at the 2012 Olympics.

The Learning Awards, organised by the Learning & Performance Institute, are an annual celebration to honour those learning professionals who have made a real difference in their organisations.

The Internal Learning Project category is awarded to teams that have undertaken a major training project that is innovative in concept and has produced a meaningful improvement in the performance of the organisation.

Last year, the Sodexo team faced the significant challenge of training 5,000 people at all levels, to deliver public and staff catering at the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Delivering an exceptional service was critical to Sodexo, as with the eyes of the world on the Olympic Park, the company was also measured by LOCOG’s KPIs.

The judges at this year’s Leaning Awards were particularly impressed by the way the Sodexo team used social media to maintain excellent engagement with employees during recruitment, training and service delivery, through the Be More than a Spectator campaign.

Of the Silver Award, Graeme McKinneley, learning and development business partner, Sodexo said: It was great to be recognised with a silver award for our approach to training the 5000 employees we recruited for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. It is testament to the hard work and dedication shown by the team for a project that spanned nearly two years.
